How The Home Depot Canada Engaged Customers with Custom Sets

Create a NovaBrix product to retail as a promotional SKU in their 2024 Black Friday and Christmas range.

WHAT WE DID

Designed and produced a NovaBrix replica of The Home Depot Canada store-front with a vehicle and minifigures

THE OPPORTUNITY

NovaBrix, an established and proven program as a successful product in numerous DIY and home improvement stores, already had proven success across the US, Australia, and New Zealand.  Contributing to over 300% YOY growth with some retailers, Novelli recognized an opportunity to collaborate with a Canadian partner (THD) to develop a product line tailored to their market.

Initially, the discussions had focused on some of the Novelli core Merch Apparel items but soon transitioned to NovaBrix as the best way to drive the brand into the consumer personal space of all age groups. The discussion then progressed to include a retail SKU enhancing sales during Black Friday and Christmas.

As with the design and creation of any NovaBrix set, Novelli spends a considerable amount of time researching and understanding our client and their customers.  In this particular case, it quickly became apparent that an exclusive product, such as a store-front, would be a highly sought-after and popular product amongst Home Depot Canada's loyal customer base, and it was! 

We quickly identified the importance of ensuring a replica brick store would accurately and authentically represent their physical stores. This was crucial in maintaining brand identity, quality and ensuring customer satisfaction. The team at Home Depot specifically requested that we recreate the familiar and iconic shape of their store's roofline and Canadian flag above the front doors, a distinctive feature that customers would immediately recognize and associate with the brand.

OUR SOLUTION

Using our NovaBrix building bricks, we crafted a realistic store front that captures the essence of the Home Depot Canada stores.  The set includes several key features designed to enhance the building experience and provide imaginative play:

  • The recognizable angled roofline above the front doors, which is a signature architectural element of their retail stores, was carefully designed and constructed using a custom-built mold. This unique feature not only adds authenticity to the model but also showcases the precision and creativity involved in its design.

  • The inclusion of a Home Depot hire truck, a variety of minifigures representing store employees and customers, as well as trolleys for transporting goods add an extra layer of playability to the set.

  • Bilingual packaging and instruction manual.

MARKETING SUPPORT

The launch of the set was supported with our own B2C promotion of the new set through Facebook and Instagram.  The campaigns were focused on the Canadian provinces where The Home Depot stores are located and generated significant online buzz from excited consumers.  

OUTCOME

With yet another proven success story, watch for the next several SKU's to be launched later this year.
